Experience

  • Have a keen interest in working with people with Autism, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities. 
  • Experience of supporting people with dignity and respect.
  • Experience of providing support to others either through work or volunteering. 
  • At least 3 years’ experience of working with people with Autism, Mental Health or Learning Disabilities. 
  • Experience of medication administration. 
  • Experience of Person Centred Care and planning. 
  • Experience of epilepsy

    Knowledge & Qualifications

    • A good understanding of the needs of people with Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health. 
    • Have a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or willing to work towards it. 
    • An understanding of Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulations.
    • Willingness to complete personal development goals and mandatory training as required. 
    • Knowledge of key-working.  
    • A good understanding of accountability, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.  
    • A good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act.

    Skills & Attributes

    • Communicate effectively both oral and written, including preparing concise and meaningful reports.
    • Ability to organise self, workload and work independently and pro-actively under pressure.
    • Ability to work as a supportive and effective team member.
    • Ability to be sensitive and discreet when supporting people with personal care and medical issues.
    • Computer literate with a competent working knowledge of using databases and Microsoft Office programmes including MS Word, Outlook and Excel and have the ability to be self-sufficient in.
    • Proficient in organisation and administration tasks.
    • Flexibility with shifts, we are a 24/7 business, so shifts are based over the AM, PM, nights and weekends.
    • Empathy with people with Mental Health & complex support needs and the ability to deal sensitively with customers in distress.
